Individual Counseling

Finding the right balance in life can be difficult, especially when dealing with life’s challenges such as depression, anxiety or grief.
When we are not functioning atour best it affects us emotionally and physically. When experiencing these life challenges therapy can provide you with the guidance and tools you need to overcome them.

At LiveWell we believe that it is important to tailor therapy tothe individual. Together we will establish goals that will push you to look inward, stretch and grow nand we will work toward them at a pace that is comfortable for you. We practice a therapeutic style that is eclectic which means we use many methods and models in our work. Some of the methods we utilize in our practice are:

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a comprehensive, integrative psychotherapy approach. It contains elements of many effective psychotherapies
in structured protocols that are designed to maximize treatment effects. These include psychodynamic,
cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, experiential and body centered therapies.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy i
s based on the idea that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors, not external things,
like people, situations, and events.  The benefit of this fact is that we can change the way we think to feel/act better
even if the situation does not change.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT sometimes called "acupressure for the emotions," EFT is a highly focusedenergy psychology method that rapidly
releases the emotional impact of stressful or traumatic life events from the mind-body system.

Couples Counseling

If your relationship is in crisis, choosing the right therapist is one of the mostimportant decisions you can make. Many
therapists offer couples counseling as a part of their practice. However, few have the specialized training that is needed to help couples who are experiencing difficulties in their relationship.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy
Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy is based on clear, explicit conceptualizations of marital distressand adult love. These conceptualizations are supported by empirical research on the nature of maritaldistress and adult attachment. The model explores how couples construct their emotional experience of connection and how they engage with each other. Through the process couples learn how to expand their emotional responses, create new kinds of interactions and foster secure bonding.

Discernment Counseling
Discernment counseling is a short term process (maximum of 5 sessions) for couples who are considering separation but are not completely sure if it's the right path for them. This processlets thecouple take one more look before making a permanent decision with long term consequences. The sessions arestructured in a particular way so the therapist has the abilityto work with the couple together and individually. Working with this structure emphasizes the importance of each person identifying his or her own contributions to the problems and possible solutions.

Developmental Model
Unlike other models the central principle of the developmental model is to initially focus on individual growth and "differentiation" of each partner as well as on strengthening your capacity to accept your differences. This is different from other models who tend to initially focus on increasing empathy and understanding of each other. Empathy and understanding are certainly a part of
the developmental process. However, it comes with time. Before we can empathize and understand we need to  learn howto accept our differences and not move away from them.
